Goochland Pet Lovers offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities for individuals with all types of skills and experience. Whether you enjoy working behind the scenes with administrative tasks, engaging with the community at events, assisting with educational programs, or helping with hands-on outreach efforts, there’s a way for you to make a meaningful impact. We welcome passionate volunteers who want to support our mission of helping pets and people in Goochland.
Volunteer Positions
Administrative
- Write thank-you notes to donors
- Make phone calls to donors
- Provide shelter tours
Events
- Set up table/display at local events
- Hand out information
- Sell t-shirts (if applicable)
- Share information about GPL programs, including:
- Lori L. Elliott Medical Fund
- Good Neighbor Outreach Program
- Teaching Kindness Education Program
Anniversary Event
- Assist with setup
- Parking
- Check-ins
- Shelter tours
Good Neighbor Outreach Program (2nd Saturday of every month)
- Parking lot check-ins
- Paperwork preparation
- Take photos of pets and clients
- Prepare client bags with supplies
Teaching Kindness Education Program (3rd Grade, Goochland County)
- Prepare instructional information for lessons
- Teach lessons at Elementary Schools:
- GES
- Byrd
- Randolph
GPL Animal Camp (Through Goochland Recreation and Parks)
- Assist with organizing guests and speakers
- Provide support throughout camp activities
- Design curriculum and student activities
