Keeping Missy and Jelly Bean Healthy Through Life’s Challenges

Goochland Pet Lovers

For more than a decade, Missy and Jelly Bean have been cherished members of Kammie’s family. The two Pomeranians have been by her side through life’s ups and downs, and like so many pet owners, Kammie has always wanted to give them the care they deserve.

But life can change quickly.

When Kammie’s husband lost his job and later went on disability, veterinary expenses became much harder to manage. As much as she wanted to stay on top of Missy and Jelly Bean’s health, difficult financial circumstances meant making impossible choices.

Then another Good Neighbor Outreach Program client told her about the program.

Thanks to the support of the Good Neighbor Outreach Program, Kammie was able to bring both dogs in for the veterinary care they needed.

During their visits, the veterinary team discovered that Missy’s persistent cough was likely related to a heart murmur. She’ll continue to be monitored so her care team can keep a close eye on her condition and help her stay as healthy and comfortable as possible.

Jelly Bean was facing a different challenge.

Over time, he had begun losing teeth, making a dental procedure medically necessary for his health and comfort. With the Good Neighbor Outreach Program now covering medically necessary dental procedures, Jelly Bean can receive the treatment he needs without the financial burden falling entirely on his family.

Stories like Kammie’s remind us why the Good Neighbor Outreach Program exists. Unexpected hardships can happen to anyone, but no family should have to choose between their financial stability and a beloved pet’s essential medical care.

By helping make veterinary services more accessible, the Good Neighbor Outreach Program allows pets like Missy and Jelly Bean to receive the care they need while giving families the support and peace of mind they deserve.
