Second Annual Rescue Dog Olympics (April 2019)

Submitted by Dogter Jack

HOWLo everyone! Goochland Pet Lovers would like to personally invite you and your family to join us Saturday, May 4, 2019 from Noon to 5:00pm, for our annual Rescue Dog Olympics at Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery! The entire community along with their fury friends are invited to come celebrate the joy rescue dogs bring to our lives. The Rescue Dog Olympics will feature canine inspired contests, prizes, pet-centric vendors and activities, food trucks and live music the whole family will enjoy!

Most importantly, the focus of this event is to celebrate the blessing of rescue dogs (like me!). Throughout the day we will be featuring our “Gold Medalist” canines from various shelters and rescue organizations who are up for adoption. In order to spot-light these pups, they will be adorned with a yellow “gold medal” bandana to signify they are currently searching for a forever home.

Ways for you to participate:

  • Attend the event and have a fun day with friends-- all leashed dogs are welcome!
  • Dress your pet in style for our pet costume contest at 1:30pm
  • Show off your pet’s talents in competitions like “Best Kisser”, “Best trick”, “Simon Says” and more!
  • Submit a “before and after” photo for our “Best Rescue Make-over” contest
    • All submissions must be made by April 26th
  • Submit a photo for “Goofiest Pet Photo” or “Canine Athlete of the Year” contest
    • All submissions must be made by April 26th
  • Share the event information through your social media channels
  • Become an event sponsor

Come and join me, Dogtor Jack, for a day of fun and celebration!  Watch the website for a schedule of events. I look forward to seeing you at the second annual Rescue Dog Olympics! #RDO2019
