Goochland Pet Lovers (GPL) is a 501(c)3 advancing animal welfare in our rural community. In a unique public/private partnership with Goochland County, GPL supports the animals in the Goochland County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center through financial support and a robust volunteer program. In addition, we take care of our community pets by providing vet care to residents who reside at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.
Established in 2016, GPL has surpassed several key milestones and is continuing on a positive trajectory of growth and collaborations. Serving at the direction of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is the face of Goochland Pet Lovers, as well as its Chief Executive Officer. Reporting to the Chair of the Board, the Executive Director is responsible for managing all business and administrative affairs of the organization and is its sole employee. We are in search of a leader who is ready to take the strong foundation that has been created and make it their own, building relationships with both donors and organizations while furthering our mission.
The ideal candidate will come with a strong development history. It is anticipated that sixty percent (60%) of your time will be spent planning and executing an effective development plan to ensure the organization’s sustainability. Along with a development plan, the Executive Director will lead the board through the strategic planning process to introduce innovative opportunities while aligning and establishing partnerships for the betterment of the community. A creative team builder will be successful in this role working with the board, volunteers and partners.
Approximately, twenty percent (20%) of your time will be spent as the brand manager and performing administrative responsibilities which includes maintaining our social media presence. In conjunction with a growing volunteer base, 10% of your time will be spent on select events and community outreach. The remaining 10% of your time will be focused on overseeing current and emergent programs.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Passion for animals and concern for their welfare.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ development expertise is essential comprising of developing and executing a plan, stewardship, major gifts, fundraising, sponsorships and growing a donor base.
- Proven business/organizational management experience to provide leadership for board members, committees, volunteers and community stakeholders.
- Strong oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Experience with Bloomerang or similar CRM, Canva, Quickbooks Online and Constant Contact a plus.
This position is flexible in that some of the work can be done during non-traditional hours while being reachable and available during normal workdays. While your office is your home, a significant presence at the shelter and in the community will be required. Some meetings and events require nights and weekends. This is a salaried position with an annual salary range of $54K - $60K commensurate with experience, PTO and a paid holiday schedule.
